Coastal engineering

The aim of this course is to give an introduction to the study of ocean waves along the coast, wave statistics, wave refraction, wave diffraction, wave shoaling, wind and wave generation, tides and tidal currents, sand migration, coastal erosion and erosion control, erosion around offshore or coastal structures due to waves and currents and erosion. Some aspects related to coastal zone management will also be addressed.
